Tax Assistance Program (TAP)

TAP is a group of volunteers who provides free tax preparation for low income families. Last year, TAP served 666 families, prepared 1,229 returns, and got these families a total of $822,179 in refunds (the average refund per family was between $1100 and $1300). Many of these families had no knowledge of the earned income tax credit, but with TAP's help, 47% of the total refunds came from families claiming the earned income tax credit.
